RUSH HOUR 4 (2026) Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker | Carter and Lee Returns Last Time

Rush Hour 4 is a 2026 upcoming American action comedy film directed by F. Gary Gray. It is the fourth film in the series and the first film in eighteen years since 2007's Rush Hour 3. This film intends to serve as a soft reboot to the franchise. It will be the first film in the series not to be directed by Brett Ratner who directed the first three but will have a executive producer role. This will also be the first time Chris Tucker and F. Gary Gray has reunited in thirty years since 1995's Friday.

Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker both reprise their respective roles Lee and Carter in eighteen years since Rush Hour 3. There was many talks of a fourth film from 2007 to early 2022 and movement finally came late November 2022 with both Lee and Carter confirming a fourth Rush Hour. Further movement came in October 2023 when John Gatins was hired to write the script. Brent Ratner did not reprise his role as the series director and the role soon went to F. Gary Gray.

In the film Lee and Carter reunite after a fifteen year separation to help out Carter's estranged son to try and shut down a dangerous drug cartel's illegal street racing network.

Principal photography on the film will take place in Los Angeles; Miami; New York City; Tokyo; Morocco; and Rio Brazil. The film is scheduled to have its theatrical release on July 11 2026.

Premise

After stopping a kidnapping-heist in LA disrupting the Triad’s hold on Las Vegas and a faux pas in Paris Lee and Carter have since gone their separate ways. But after many years apart a surprising figure from Carter’s past will create a series of chain events that is going to reunite the two former partners as they take on a dangerous drug cartel whose operating an elaborate streel racing network while secretly distributing a deadly drug. Hoping to stop them Lee and Carter will have to team up with Carter's estranged son the DEA and other intriguing players as they embark on a wild globe-trotting race that will take them from Miami to New York to Tokyo all the way to Rio. It's time to prepare for the fourth rush.
